What Cruise line?

I put mine Captain and Vodka in Smart water bottles, packed that in three grocery bags between my shirts and shorts, locked the suitcase, checked the bag at the curb. My bags were delivered and the booze was inside the suitcase. Had friends buy goog bagged wine, put it in the suitcase between clothes, it also made to the cabin...

You get 1 (up to 1.75L) bottle per person, depending on cruise. Read the web-site should be posted.
Make sure you bring the hard stuff and then purchase the soda card, which allows you to have free soda while on the ship. Much better then purchasing mixes as you go.

We put several bottles in our check-in bags for Carnival (3 years ago) and Norwegian (2 years ago) Cruise Lines, never had an issue. They took our carry-on stuff, though.

we just got back from the Carnival 3 Day'r to Ensenanda. I read up, and the cooler size allowed is a 12"X12"x12", so that threw my beer plan off a bit. I don't know about how much they allowed per person, but the wife and I just opted to take some vino, and just nut up the booze bill afterwards. We threw 4 bottles of wine and 2 bottles of champagne in the roll on; it went throught the x-ray machine and the lady asked what was the liquid in the bottles. I answered "WINE". She muttered something that ended with the words, ".....but I'll trust you", andsent us on our way.

I like Mrs BoardsmanJ's idea :thumbsup Last trip, I put JD in Pepsi liter bottles with a little brown food coloring from a Scooby Doo cake kit. Worked out well, 'cept my finger tips were stained brown the whole trip; made for good converstion though:D

I wish I'd have known about the soda card. They should just come up with an unlimited booze card for $500 bucks, and make it a true "all inclusive" deal.

Royal Caribbean-

we departed out of puerto rico and after we got through security there was a duty free store that sold booze. we were told as long as we bought our booze from that store, we could bring it on the ship.

as someone else mentioned, we bought the drink card (all you can drink soda, juice, etc.), and made sure to fill up before we left the room.

Holland America for us, 1/2 gallon bottles of the Captain in 2 suitcases and a suitcase of 2 liter bottles of soda, then you have empty case for souveniers.

Shouldn't it be a security issue to bring any liquid on board? If Iwas a terrorist and put nitroglycerin in a shampoo bottle and some other chemicals , just wondering:skull

Another suggestion, tip your Steward, he will make sure your booze isn't turned in plus your ice bucket will never be empty... :thumbsup

I purchased the screw top Monster cans and filled with Jager, Some cans premix and some just Jager and made it on with out a problem. I just put into large zip lock bags (just in case of a spill) and put into suitcase. You should be able to clean these cans good enough for anytype of booze. The problem with shampoo is it is almost impossible to get clean enough (the bottle).

I've only been on one cruise, but I just packed a few bottles of wine and a couple bottles of Ketel in my checked bag and had no issues.. I don't think I've ever heard of someone packing booze in their check bag and having it taken... There's so many bags to get on board and to the cabins, I doubt that they really have the time to take all of the booze out.

+1 on the soda card on the ship... Easy way to get your mixers...

The Brig.
No kidding the brig.

I've never been hassled with carry on booze, or know of anyone that has.
They are looking for explosives, or anything you could use against someone that pisses you off.

Cruises are cheap right now.
I'm taking Maynard on a 4 day Carnival to get him outta his moms hair and away from the tube for a spell and some cruises are $169 per person Dbbl.
That is really cheap.

Drinks on board are relative reasonable cost IMHO,,, but the quantity that the RDP members consume is staggering,, so that cancels out any talk of reasonable..

If ya book with a group of 20 friends they have a $35 daily open bar rate BTW.

Put it in your suitcase & have it delivered directly to your room - they don't check it. Anything you take on personnally will get checked - just like an airline. Basically, don't be cheap & tip the guy to deliver your bags :D. Learned that on my first cruise, been on 4 since & have never been caught.

Oh, & wrap it well so the bottles don't break when there's 10 suitcases thrown on top of it. Better yet, buy the 1/5ths in plastic.

Ya have to fight for it and tell them you're a business/commercial rate. They won't volunteer that info.

Wife just corrected me,,, it was $65 daily rate,,

One of the local bars here books bar trip cruises for their customers and they get the rate.

-or at least they got the rate on the last cruise.
That's still cheap and it was a flat rate and everyone said no booze was excluded that and it was a killer deal.
Our last cruise 5 day bar bill was almost $1200 so any flat rate is good if they still offer it.

Mary (of travel by Mary) has the details how she gets it at:
PCsBar@Yahoo.com

Mary usually works Fridays at the bar and you can get her at: (805) 579-9079

Some agents are just an online booking service, some have details to get good breaks.
Ya might not want to mention my name. She fired my favorite bartender,, and we had a falling out over it.

When we sail from San Pedro on Princess Cruise Lines, our travel agent makes arrangements for our wine society (20-40 members) to bring a case of wine each on board, for celebrating. She gives each one of us a sticker for each case. We check them with our luggage. I have heard some of the wine bottles may not have WINE in them.
