Just curious what people thought of the 32 Spectre Cat that was on display at the street fair during DS. I was told Mercury ran the boat two weeks ago during prop testing and it ran 115mph with the 400's. What do you all think a boat like that should sell for?

Pretty sure Andy Holthe drove the boat during the run..

I never got a chance to see it in person or I'd give you some answers.

I know dUring DS there was a few threads about it and people really seemed to like it!

So figure a boat manufacturer with a merc account buys them for 22k eachish.

44k in motors...

170k for the hull, interior, trailer misc.parts and rigging seems pretty pricey to me. Figure a company like Howard or eliminator can make a profit on a 28' 502 mag boat being sold at 100k and the motor/drive easily costs as much as one 400.

Looks like a nice boat but I'm looking at other boats for 210k

I think that price is motor only so probably another 5-7k on top of the 24k you and I pay for steering and controls installed.

What's a 700-800 merc cost?

The boat showed at Desert Storm with the motors way too deep on the transom. It will be interesting to see final speed numbers.

Not including the rigging needed for those motors. Steering, shift by wire shifters, transom brackets. No way your putting a 400 on a boat for 24. I've heard quotes around 40.

Is 215k a fair price for the boat?

Looks like the vessel view 7 is about $2700

No idea what throttle by wire/shifters cost or steering and brackets.

What would it cost to build? I'm curious.

I don't believe Howard or Eliminator even sell a boat for a 100K? Don't quote me on it but I believe that 29 with the twin 400's retails at more like 300? I believe the DCB with the 400's is in the same price range at near 300

Not that long ago you had a Howard special for a pretty loaded standard power boat around 100k.

I think interceptor would sell there deck for 100k and to be honest I don't think eliminators rigging is any better. I thought the 28 speedster with the 400's was pretty cool until I saw it at desert storm. Beautiful boat but I would never want it because of the wasted interior room....the huge empty engine compartment was just weird but I understand that they can't change the bulk head de$ign.

If people want to pay 300k+ for a boat that cost's 150-200k to build more power to them I'm out of the new boat game...let someone else eat the 50% depreciation [emoji41][emoji106]

A new Daytona 21 with a 300x is $95k, that's about it for under $100k

How is it you come to that 150-200k number?
And,if it does cost that to build how much should someone pay for it?
If it costs 200 to build and they sell it for 200 why would they bother?

I talked to Gene a couple of weeks ago. All deck boats are now 150k with all the options. He outfits them all the same. Oh that's 150k plus motor package of your choice. Yes 150 before you choose your motor.

I heard the Speedster was mid 2's with 400's. I think low 2's is a good price point for that boat. It's a 32 and substantially bigger than a 28 Daytona.

We tested a 32 spectre for powerboat a few years back. I really liked the boat. Had ilmors in it. Handled great, planes out nice. True tunnel, super comfy ride and nicely built. I've always liked spectres though they bounce around from
Builder to builder.

Douche bag Tim actually brought it out for the test. Lol

Seems low 200s is right in the ball park for this size cat. MTI has a 34 coming to market for the 400s rumored to be in the $400 range. Price out a Skater. :eek Here is a 34 in the building stages by the original Spectre owner/builder Jay Pilini that he says will come to market with the 400s for under $200. I like new but I'll take a depreciated boat anyday.

I have always thought they were cool boats. Honestly to me though a classic Skater 28 for 1/2 the price is kind of a comp boat in my mind. I know there is different technology involved in both style, rigging etc but all they boats maybe hit the high teens. :thumbsup

I come up with the numbers based on what I think it costs to build a boat based on 10+ years of being around boats and the rdp.I think there is quite a bit of profit in a 28 speedster with 400's being sold at 250k.

Once again I'm cool with it and people seem to be paying for them like its 2005 again [emoji41][emoji106][emoji85]

Based on the rest of the industry I think this boat at 225k is priced fairly. Like pockey said they look like they have stepped there game up quite a bit. I still don't love the dash.

I knew eventually you'd write something we could both agree on :rolleyes :D

I've asked similar questions regarding some 'practical' aspect of a particular design application, both on here, and directly to the manufacturer.

I'm sorry, did you say something ??? :D

Pretty sure you walk around the edge of the boat to access each seat. Definitely for the slim. :D

Yeah, we gave you 7", how much more do you need ?? :D

I'd sure enjoy watching a YouTube video of the entire process, including the process of aligning yourself with the seat, then the final 'drop of faith', hoping you don't catch a bolster in the nuts :eek

Of course with my certain age and work induced disabilities, watching me attempt to gracefully enter and exit a modern exotic racer is sure something to laugh about :point

Every boat with a center throttle control has the same deal to get into the front seats, Most west coast boats put the controls to the side hence more room to sit down. As for the dash this is the last boat built with it. A new re designed dash is coming out that is more square where both sides are the same. He is also retooling the 30 and 36 to have a flat deck and 1 piece windshield.

I get ya on low 200's is a ton of dough for any boat with Outboards, BUT in comparison what others are in fact selling for these day again it's a DEAL ! Heard a new 30' Skater with 400's is at 450,000.00 :eek a new M29 with 400's is $300,000.00 :eek Javier's used M29 w o/b's sold for apx 289k. Have you seen the prices of Center Console boats with OB's, its absolute madness! Yes, its 2005-2006 all over again. People aren't afraid to spend big money on toys again for the moment. one thing for sure, these prices are pulling the used market prices UP with them........

The prices maybe getting to 05-06 numbers but the volume is definitely not there,At least in the west coast.

Fair enough.:thumbsup
Based on almost 30 years of actually being involved in building them,(with multiple builders)I'm going to go out on a limb and say what "you think it costs" and what it actually does cost might be a fair way apart.Especially on this 28 you refer to.Some of the options on it make it a bit more pricey than another 28 could be built with a more bare bones approach.Have you priced carbon fiber and Kevlar lately? Or the labor charges of a premadona Gelcoater lately?:yikes :D
I absolutely agree with your earlier comment about the wasted space on that unit. The deck/hatch arrangement was squarely aimed at a twin I/O setup. It didn't lend well to the outboard application in that regard, but did run a pretty good number with that power.

Will be interesting to see how this Specter prices out or how that price will move once they have a few builds under their belt.

Don't get me wrong I thought that boat was a home run and honestly I preferred it and the gel over the recent outboard m29 from dcb. Shurman explained the way the bulkheads were done so understand why they were stuck with the huge compartment. Beautiful boat and it did lay down an impressive number!!

I don't love most of eliminators stuff but I think the 27/28 speedsters and the new deck are bad ass. I think the 22 would be awesome with a speedster windscreen and a new dash...love the size of that boat.

You should considering buying a slightly used model. I understand inventory is pretty slim now. Toying with the idea of listing my boat by really not liking what is out there... :thumbsup

Yes! A guy with a quad 350 Sea Vee tried to race me a few weekends back in key largo. I later looked up that particular model, for a used 2015 it was $449k! And has anybody here ever heard of Sea Vee!? The statements, MTIs, Cigarette center consoles are pushing $700-800k...

I thought $225k for a 32 cat was a decent price after seeing stuff like that...

Hi Milk.....Speedster? This one is fast, and for the right price I can go buy SJP's sled when you buy mine??? New TCM 1050, 1110HP. 120 MPH is really easy to get too.. 130's are pretty easy too. Unfortunately I have a lot of time & $$$ in set up.

I agree on the used Sam. I think over at horizon they have a 27 that is real nice for I think 150k. Beautiful boat.

I won't spend the ridiculous money on new , but finding that right set up used , like color , size , motor etc etc. and taken care of is my biggest hurdle.

Lots of nice boats out there and not discounting anybody's boat , I think it's , no I mean. It's more me. [emoji202]

I spoke with Bob last week about a new 27 after seeing the new green and orange one that just rolled out. Wow with a 700 merc and #6 it was north of $225k no stereo or anything like interior lights etc.

Seen two for sale i would like, but the gel is terrible on them (for my liking). Its very hard to find good combo's as you say.

Sam's DCB is a dream boat for sure!
