Shit happens hydro poster

I brought this up in another thread, anybody remember the poster from the early 90's with the black hydro getting yanked off the trailer because the shute was deployed? Skyskier has been looking for it as well to possibly reproduce it if there are no copyright issues.

That poster was all over the river in 90's, we always wondered if it was a real photo or not, and back before photoshop it was unimaginable how it could be fake.

Would love to find one for skyskier to reproduce / offer for sale, it would bring back alot of memories and look sweet in the bar at our havasu house.

Anyone have one, know of one still on existence?

There was photo retouching software back then, it was just very, very expensive and tedious compared to modern software. I saw a demonstration in the 80's at a photo studio.

You can be certain it's a modified image.

Just got back from Badenochs, they let me "borrow" their's, it's pretty rough, I'll do the restoration on it ( there's no copyright markings on it ), I'll post it up when I finish it

"This is a classic photo... But not a mishap. This boat never touched the ground. They pulled the boat on a dolly trailer which was chained to the regular trailer and then attached a car chute to the boat and ran it down the fwy for the photo. Had some airbrush work done (notice they erased the drive shaft) and sold photos of this at the drags with the phrase "Shit Happens".

Unless there is a similar poster, I believe that poster was of my buddy's dad BAH "Bad Blood" which was a maroonish color. I need to call him today anyway. I will ask about any they might still have laying around.

Funny, story I got was that they went out on the 210 before it was opened and had a cable ran up to the truck. Pulled it at speed, chute opened and fiberglass everywhere. The guy that told me said Don Steves Chevy supplied the truck and they had a poster showing it frame by frame. I don't know if it's true just a version I heard. :blah:

this is a 24 x 36, $75 unframed, I have to send it too New York to be printed on kodak lustre lure paper, takes about 2 weeks .....no joke I usualy wait till I've got 6 or 8 or 10 to do, saves on shpg.

I can't tell, this is the print I copied ,...........still lookin to get a hold of a decent one. I actually had to add the front of the truck an fill out the rest of the chute to make a presentable copy.
