Most large municipalities (which Havasu has evolved into now) have ordinances that do not allow Recreational Vehicles, Non-Operable Vehicles, etc. parked in your front yard. (In this case front gravel) If I were a home owner there I wouldn't want to live next door to that shit either. Park it in your back yard, pour a slab on the side of your house, or rent a storage. What's the big deal? I don't understand how some people just have no respect for their neighbors? Move out to the middle of the Dez if u wanna be a hoarder.

heres what gets me on this forum....people are afraid to say what they really think....LOL...

"you can park in front of my house "" I wouldn't mind..:rolleyes..Bull shit..... real people come home and say....whos fuck'n car is that parked in front of my house...it fucking better not be there tomorrow:grumble:

those that say it's your front yard do what you want....are the ones that call code enforcement....

people do things to make things "look better"" and try to hold it's value...people that don't give a fuc about themselves... or what others think about their life style, are the reason other don't want buy your house that's next to them...
like I said before... how many times has a realtor said.. oh my, what a lucky find.... look at all the shit that's in everyones front yard...and the guy next door....he has the most..

and don't worry about the 89 chevy with no bed in your drive way....soon as he gets the money for a trans , he's gonna move it..and the 81 pace arrow motorhome hooked to the bayliner with no motor has to be moved... the city told him last year that he has to move it every 72hrs..[/QUT
That's it exactly :thumbsup

That is nothing compared to some of the lots around town, doubt anyone would even complain about that. Think inoperable cars, boats, toys, parts, and multiple cars parked in the front gravel area.
My rental house there has a crap collector next door. Had a big slide out trailer in back with tenant. City came and sited the owner for the trailer. Tenant had to leave. Two years later owner dies and trailer finally gets moved.........hug roach nest under it which spread to all the neighboring houses. New owner has just as much if not more shit sitting around now.
.
I will say simply we should be allowed to be the master of our castles. Not right to make someone live by your rules just like you shouldn't have to live by theirs.

I live and own in a community of townhomes and I am the HOA President and 95% of our problems are with rentals.

I am in the same boat, luckily my complex has standard city streets running through it, so it doesn't have the apt complex problems, and every unit has a two car garage, across the alley from me is the entire Board who are elderly and very nice, and party, I talk to them all the time. 95% of all problems are the 10% of units that are rentals, that's where the non operational cars come from and noise complaints and domestic violence, fun times.

I wouldn't mind buying a house next to a junk pile. I've never owned one and honestly, something like that is probably all I could afford.

I wouldn't want to live next to a house with a shit bag for a yard- river or not.

The normal stuff is fine, its the idiot slobs that motivates someone to introduce a bill that swings the pendulum the other way. Then It becomes a police state and a revenue stream of tickets

They did move out in the desert. it just has grown into a little town, with a big pond that people like to enjoy. :)
I am not for someone who has a shit load of junk in the front yard. :thumbsdown fucking trashy people.

Yes it is ! Your neighbor shouldn't have his property in such as state that I lowers your property value. House around the corner from me was on the market for over a year. Can't say it was because of property next door but it looked like a junk yard, I wouldn't by next to that house.

What about the reverse side of that coin? (Think about it)

Isn't Havasu kind of in the middle of the desert? Lol. If I wanted to live in CA I would have stayed there.

Havasu is in the middle of the desert but your house is in the middle of the town. You should have bought outside of town and no one would care what's on the side of your house.:D. I've read once, in many towns in Florida now, travel trailers are banned from parking at houses. We have lots of trailers parking here at private residences and it is not a problem yet, but some of them sure are an eyesore.I do park my TT only minutes away at an RV dealer who has a large storage lot.

I'd be curious to see what the board of realtors view is on this. My guess is that they would endorse it.
Paul or River Diva, care to share your personal opinion?

To me this looks like an early fix, instead of Havasu becoming the inland empire of Arizona.

We bought the shot hole house next door to ours and completely renovated it. Numerous neighbors stopped by during the process thanking us for raising their property values. Several broken down cars boats and a RV were hauled off to the dump which according to some on here is fine by them, well as long as it's not their neighbor. And then there was the large pile of animal waste on the side of the house from the 16 cats and dogs they had in the house. But I guess in the grand scheme of of things that would be fine to many as well, it's there yard, they should be able to have a five foot high pile of dog shit on their property.

I forgot that there was a person living in one of the broken down vans on the property, I feel bad now, he had a right to be there I guess.

The problem here is everyone thinks the way they live is the correct way. [emoji107]🏻
Not everyone thinks like you or lives the same as you. [emoji106]🏻
Stop trying to make everyone be like you. People want to tell you your house needs to be painted or your lawn looks like shit. Maybe it takes everything they got just to make it. I see this with the older generation a lot. As they get older they stop having compassion for others. Very self centered. Just because you are retired and got nothing going on doesn't mean go get in other peoples business.
Now I keep my house nice but I'm not gonna tell my neighbors I want your house to look like mine because I'm the authority on the way the neighborhood should look.

There's a HUGE difference between parking things nicely and just scattering shit all over the yard. If someone wants to park things in their yard and keeps it clean and out of the way, nobody is going to complain. It's the people that just collect crap and make a junk yard.....Jeezze, is this so hard to understand?

Where is the line between clean and neat versus crap and a junk yard? Who makes that call?

Ask a hundred people you'll get a hundred answers...how's the phrase go about one mans junk is another's treasure...

Good question....Common sense? But I know that is subjective too. How about just try to not be an eyesore?
Most all of us are going to take pride in what we have, even if it's not as nice as the next guys. I certainly don't have as nice a house as some, but I'm certainly going to take care of what I have and make it as nice as possible. Is that too much to ask?

3299 Teal Ln.. Check it out in google earth and scroll about the house.

It's people like this that get others in an uproar and others will have to suffer the rath of the city.

Give it a few years and people will be asking for side walks and more street lights. :thumbsdown

Took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about.. You have To go around the corner to see all the stuff.

heres how it works... guy doesn't have enough to buy a motorhome...see's one on craigs list that caught on fire...totaled...
he buys it and drags it home..neighbor say's being friendly.. whatcha gonna do with that? guys says.. I'm gonna rebuild it

it won't be parked here long,,,,here's what happens next...when he's working... no time to work on it..so he tears into it and stacks all the burned up shit in the yard.....now he gets layed off...no money to spend on it so it sets...truck needs a trans,

so he can't haul the shit to the dump....now he's back to work...wow another craigs list find...a truck just like his that was hit in the front... drags it home to pull the trans out and put in his work truck... in the mean time... hey lets get all the good parts and sell them on craigs list....nice neighbor says whacha gonna do with that truck...guys says don't worry it'll be gone quick, i'm gonna get the trans and some good parts off it and junk the rest... so the bed and cab go on the side yard... then he finds out that they won't take the rest of the truck.. no title,,...so the rest set there on the other side of the house... along with all the craigslist tire finds... 2 yrs latter... the king of craigslist has decided that he can make more money parting out old trucks and goes full time...nice neighbor is now the ass hole neighbor for asking him to clean up the place

That's the $64k question, right? What is the definition and where does it end?

There is a house on McCulloch that we pass on the way to our house that has a toy hauler parked in the front yard in an East-West orientation. In fact, I believe the ground has been excavated to provide a level parking area in the dirt front yard. Personally, if I were his neighbors I would not be happy about it but it is his property and there is nothing I would be able to do about it. But if this were to pass, and he paves that area, is it then ok? It doesn't really solve the problem of an RV being parked in the front yard. But again, it is his property.

The home to the West of us has a motorhome parked on the side of the house that we can see from our front windows. Do I like it there? No, I do not. But we only use the front room as an office and never really spend any time in there so it is not really an issue. Now, while I may not like it, there is no way in hell I would call the city and complain as it is his property.

I think there is a very fine line in this situation that separates common sense of the homeowners with respect to what they can vs. what they should park in their front yards and lack of commons sense from the government. Common sense and logic should always prevail but that is rarely the case when property rights and the government get involved.

The home on McCulloch sounds like mine?

There are already code enforcement rules for this city just as there are for probably every city in the country. They are enforced as much as traffic speeds are here. A lot of the pictures in this thread could be dealt with but neighbors being neighbors are minding their own business.

I can't think of another house on McCulloch that has a flat to the street entry or in your words "excavated to provide a level parking area in the dirt front yard." to the garage so you must me referring to ours. The trailer is not in the city right of way, I am not in the traffic lane when I hitch up and my neighbors can exit there driveway safely even though traffic is 10-15mph over the speed limit in a residential area. Here is the best part, we are full time residents and my job has nothing whatsoever to do with part time vacation visitors so if you think this is a problem or comparable to the junk pictures previously posted then feel free to stay in your HOA California neighborhood because Havasu does not need your kind of negativity. I always have beer in the basement fridge so anyone is welcome to stop by anytime, I am trying to be more approachable but sometimes it is easier than others.

I don't see an issue with that whatsoever. I love neighborhoods with RV's. It says something about the family dynamic, they like to camp and be outdoors.

With your lot I would do the same thing [emoji106]

Paul or River Diva, care to share your personal opinion?
I was at the recent MLS meeting when it came up and most of the Realtors there were pretty much opposed but the consensus was to get more information on exactly what is being proposed.

Candidly there is a home on Daytona that has had a 5th wheel parked in front of the house parallel to the street and only 10-15 feet from the street.............I've seen a TV going on this thing almost every night I have gone by since I've lived in my house. The law says it can't be inhabited more than 7 days a year but watching TV out there and sleeping in the house apparent;ly is not prohibited........IMO this is the kind of thing that should be prohibited......I also saw a similar situation coming up S. McCulloch the other day and I think it looks like crap but having something parked on the side of the house or even on the parallel to the driveway that is not paved is not an issue for me.

The Board of Directors of the Lake Havasu Board of Realtors has decided to wait until we meet with the City Manager before we take an official position........I'll keep you guys up to date on what our official position is when it is determined.

Paul, the thing is the 5th wheel on Daytona you speak of is already in violation if someone is living it in, no rule changes needed. I am do not support their activities but if it isn't going to be reported then no further ordinances are necessary as they won't be enforced either.

Trust me it's been reported at least 5 times that I am personally aware of...........code enforcement is a joke in LHC and since they do such a bad job they now want to make more strict rules so the police can get involved.....just my opinion but I think that's whats going on here.....I'm still waiting to get more info but I do know that code enforcement is not working.;)

Possibly but Daytona intersects McCulloch, not what was stated. Any other street in the spaghetti hillside of Havasu I could agree with the possibility of confusion but not what they said unless they don't know where there own house is.

I know code enforcement is a joke here...on all matters. I just don't agree tightening rules that currently aren't enforced is the answer.

The Daytona example I just used was just down the street (towards Acome from Starline........the McCulloch example is on S. McCulloch in the area of Chemehuevi.

I don't disagree and the conversation I plan to have with Charlie is why do we need this rule when Code Enforcement isn't even enforcing the current rules ;)

Nope, either he does not know where he lives or he was referring to me. Sounds like the 5th wheel on Daytona is a separate issue.
