Think parking is a problem? Should see the third world shit hole next door to me. 14 anchor babies. No English. No problem. 6 foot block wall with a 7 foot wood fence on top of that and some stereo speakers bolted to my exterior wall with the angry white guy channel turned up full blast as I'm leaving for the airport. The yard is absolutely disgusting.Every single square foot of that yard has something broke on it. All they need is that fresh shit smell and they would be at home. No problem there. Just their culture. I'm completely walled in now and couldn't give a shit what people do.

I know code enforcement is a joke here...on all matters. I just don't agree tightening rules that currently aren't enforced is the answer.

This is very true. Code Enforcement is reactionary and not proactive, and they only have one enforcement officer. This has been the problem for years and I don't see it being rectified soon. Most all of the complaints in this thread are covered by existing code laws, just not enforced.

Nope, either he does not know where he lives or he was referring to me. Sounds like the 5th wheel on Daytona is a separate issue.
There's a 5th wheel accross the street from my parents on S. McCulloch and McCulloch pl that parks parallel to the curb...about 1ft off the mailbox... maybe that's the one he's referring too... it's been parked that way for years.

I went to a friends party . he lives in HOA in So cal. I never get to drive My 65 Gt Mustang, so we take it to the afternoon party. drive down, we get to his place. I am look perfect! a spot in front of his house. He comes out with his head down and mumbles. "Ugh you cant park here. you have to park three blocks away in the common parking area. " I am like what?

I have lived with rules and regulation for what you can or can not have or do. wait till they say you can not park cars in driveway. everything must be hidden. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

and this my friends, is why? I live now in a rural area. cars in front of homes, horses shit smell, sometimes fly's. Roosters crowing in the morning, a couple pigs down the street. :D
But freedom !

I sure do miss our 4 acres...

That's what happens when Californians move to AZ.

It was the same thing in Oregon, they(we), move to Oregon and wanted the same shit that they left in Calif. My wife and I blended and did not think of changing a thing but after 25 years we thought it was much like the Calif we left. Now it might be following us to Havasu.

The house we just moved out of we had a neighbor with his front yard full of shit, multiple boats cars ,suburban's, dune buggies ,enclosed trailers, spare engines , cherry pickers, and other stuff covered in tarps. So while trying to sell my house the people had to see all of this shit. So I went over and talked to him to see if he could clean some of his crap up, he pretty much didn't give a shit . After talking to the city he has been called by all of the neighbors and there is nothing that can be done with this crap. So some type of code should be in place, not that we have to live in some uppity oc town but some people need to get their shit out of the front yards,

This pretty much hits the nail on the head :thumbsup
For all of you that think it's your right as a property owner to park all your crap in your front yard, buy a damn storage unit :D

You and I have very nice places, I watched your house and pool being built, but why should I be forced to store my brand new 23' travel trailer in a storage lot at $100.00-$200.00 a month when I use that money to keep my place up. It's not like it's parked in the middle of my yard (gravel), hell I can't even see it out my front windows. I totally agree about junk but not nice boats and trailers.

Nobody will tell me what i can and can't do on my property. But things are a bit different in most parts of where i live and if you tell your neighbor to move that old car or whatever, then you will be laughed at and told to FO. And if someone called the boro or the cops, they would probably just hang up on you.

The only hoa i lived in was for a couple years in feenix, and it wasn't that bad until the snowbirds were back in town. Then the trash can left out for 3 extra hours notices started rolling in.

I can't think of another house on McCulloch that has a flat to the street entry or in your words "excavated to provide a level parking area in the dirt front yard." to the garage so you must me referring to ours. The trailer is not in the city right of way, I am not in the traffic lane when I hitch up and my neighbors can exit there driveway safely even though traffic is 10-15mph over the speed limit in a residential area. Here is the best part, we are full time residents and my job has nothing whatsoever to do with part time vacation visitors so if you think this is a problem or comparable to the junk pictures previously posted then feel free to stay in your HOA California neighborhood because Havasu does not need your kind of negativity. I always have beer in the basement fridge so anyone is welcome to stop by anytime, I am trying to be more approachable but sometimes it is easier than others.

Isn't that the guy who owns KoKomos old house? It looks similar went there back in 06 once for a party but I can't remember for the life of me which house is was.

We bought this in 10 from the original owner (80 years old, not Kokomos) that built it in 81 unless you are referring to another house.

Nice house. I drive by it all the time when I'm in town on the way to my place.

I agree that if there was a new regulation, you place should be the textbook on how to properly store your stuff in the yard.

Love the house, hate the street. Given our location we can't hide from anyone.:)

Nope. :) I can almost recite to you the entire contents of your garage... And I don't live there.

I'm not going to answer this, but I have one. :)

I'm just saying it's surprising out here what people know.. I was talking to a guy the other day I barely know, and he said something to me that made me think "WTF?" (not saying that's the case here, but it was surprising when I was talking to this guy)

i am not a property owner in havasu YET...

my opinion this type of stuff going on is far worse than the yard looking like shit.

http://arrests.havasuscannerfeed.com/search-warrant-6-arrested/

Honestly you really don't see a lot of this stuff around town. (Or at least I don't?) You read Scanner Feed and it seems like something is going down every hour out here. LOL But it's a pretty quiet town all in all. If they had a scanner feed like that for any place in So Cal, you probably couldn't keep up with it day to day.

The good thing about Havasu it is small and police can keep an eye on most of the bad guys. I have really enjoyed living in a small town with lots of great people. This is a very busy place to live if you are active. Weekend again RV SHOW, Parker 400 and a golf at the AVI.

Drugs are everywhere including my old town of Huntington Beach!

Not the house I was referring to.

Additionally:

That's the $64k question, right? What is the definition and where does it end?

There is a house on McCulloch that we pass on the way to our house that has a toy hauler parked in the front yard in an East-West orientation. In fact, I believe the ground has been excavated to provide a level parking area in the dirt front yard. Personally, if I were his neighbors I would not be happy about it but it is his property and there is nothing I would be able to do about it. But if this were to pass, and he paves that area, is it then ok? It doesn't really solve the problem of an RV being parked in the front yard. But again, it is his property.

The home to the West of us has a motorhome parked on the side of the house that we can see from our front windows. Do I like it there? No, I do not. But we only use the front room as an office and never really spend any time in there so it is not really an issue. Now, while I may not like it, there is no way in hell I would call the city and complain as it is his property.

I think there is a very fine line in this situation that separates common sense of the homeowners with respect to what they can vs. what they should park in their front yards and lack of commons sense from the government. Common sense and logic should always prevail but that is rarely the case when property rights and the government get involved.

This one?

He's accross from my parents pad... like USMC2010 I don't see it as an eye sore but another neighbor the other direction is. He usually has broken down outlaw cars in the front yard, motors, trash, etc...

Maybe?? But I don't remember if it is close to a corner or not. As I said, it is their property so they can do what they want.

Here is why your post made me think it was me. On all of McCulloch there are only a handful of homes that have the front area in your words "I believe the ground has been excavated to provide a level parking area in the dirt front yard." That would leave anyone or at least it did me, to think you were referring to multilevel parking. Almost all of the properties are flat or nearly flat to the street. Of those that have multilevel parking there are even fewer (1) that have toy haulers in the lower area, I just drove the Blvd on my way home from work. You have me curious now to what you were even talking about. I would have never entered this conversation if for a second I thought you were referring to somewhere else.

I think the point being missed here is Scott says while he doesn't like it, it's their property to do with what they will.. Just drove by your house again by the way.. Lol. Kinda fun knowing where another member lives now! You ever get bored you could walk to my house..

I have not driven by your place but I know it is really close. I've been wanting to hit up some of your shenanigans but haven't yet. Having just finished running around the island I have to admit I would probably not walk. I am not a fan of finishing runs or walks uphill :) Dang if I didn't blow it on this one, other than the government having my dna and owning my ass for 4 more years I've done a fairly decent job of staying quiet until moving here. Now just about everyone knows where I am :smackhead The beer offer still stands...you too Scott E:beer

I think a bunch of you have missed the point...your front yard "IS" the neighbor hood... ,how you keep "YOUR" front yard dictates the neighbor hood.. IE... a nice neighborhood,

people care about how their yard and home looks...a shitty neighborhood... well... there's shit every where

just got home from work...helped my son set up the rear end in his project truck...16 hr day to day...

but it really boils down to some peoples freedom... fucs up other peoples freedom so they have to make stupid ass laws...

if I walk up and key your car....against the law,..damage to private property ... right..

if I make a junk pile of shit everwhere... and lower the value of others homes.... it costs home owners way more than a paint job;):rolleyes

heres my take on the havasu thing...I don't own anything that I would leave out in the havasu sun....I would not buy a rv and leave it out side to sun rot in the havasu sun...
when I buy a rv..first thing I look for is lot rot...(how long it has set out)...

I would not buy a boat, and park it out side in the sun.....I would not buy a new truck or car and leave it out side to rot...

when I get in my car or truck, boat or rv,... I want it cool in the summer... and warm in the winter...I wanna be able to go out to my garage and get in my car and not have to stand in the rain...I want my wife to be able to drive into the garage and un load the groceries... with out getting cooked, froze, or wet...my wife leaves in the dark... and comes home in the dark from work...she parks in the garage.... she likes it that way....:thumbsup

I hope nobody complains about the crap parked next to my garage.

Stacy told me that she saw something online where they are having some meeting to discuss a city ordinance that basically says "no parking in the rocks". On your own property? That any vehicles parked must be parked on concrete?

The meeting was at 7:30 am. On Feb 5th but I don't know where. Anyone know anything about this bullshit?

is this for cars only???? or boats and rv's....and another R.E. question,... when I look'd at homes in havasu... the description said "RV parking"....not all had a paved pad... in fact most were dirt...the house we just bought didn't have a garage,,, it was converted... but said it had boat and rv parking,...

You can't assume realtor adds are legit. One of the selling highlights for my place was "35' carport". Couple years later I had to remove it.

another point that people just aren't getting....junk stacked/parked on top of a concrete pad.... doesn't look any better than junk stacked /parked on dirt or rocks

but , concrete gets assessed by the county and they raise your taxes...;)

personally,.... I don't really care what people in havasu do..there's nice areas... and not so nice areas...so look around before you buy///don't try to chage the world

but on the real estate question....what happens when you bought a place where the listing says it has multible RV parking, or "boat parking on the side yard"..

and now they change it to no parking.... can they do that??? I would think that they could do it on new developments..... but not where it has been allow for years...

kinda adamant domain I would think..

I think the city is trying to improve the look there...because there is some pretty bad neighbors there...

that's another play on words by the "real-a-snaker" had it of said "permited" 35' carport... it would have stayed...on the other threads here, people say... I didn't have to get a permit to put up a carport...but when the city makes them take it down... they have to get a permit to put up the next one;)
