Ready to test. Got the radiator hoses installed and bent that stainless tube for the lower plumbing. Air filters are typically mounted top side but I mounted it front and low so it doesn't block my view and to lower the overall height.
I know it's a bit rough but I need to test it before I invest anymore time into it. I'm concerned about the radiator size. I've been firing it up daily and just smiling. Plans are to rebuild the whole thing, once it makes enough money to do so. In the meantime I'll make a belt guard that fits, belt guard for the front of the engine, clean up wiring, and weld a bung into the fuel tank for the fuel return instead of plumbing it through the fuel cap as it is now.

Nice little project. Reminds me of being a kid and seeing my uncle with drawings and parts etc for the original Soff-cut concrete cutting machines out of corona california. He was one of the couple beginning designers with the owner and owners son and a few buddies. Then they got bought buy husquvarna and thats that story haha uncle is living in new zealand the past 10 years now

I’ve been working on getting my old crawler sorted back out to get it on the trail again.

This afternoons project was engine and trans mounts.

You think these were bad?

It’s a ramp for over trailer fenders. Sorry pretty boring
Oh shit, OK. I see it now. Not boring, it's a project

A buddy wants me to restore a desk from the early 1900s. I recommended doing a couple of bow ties, but he wanted me to try an epoxy fill. It's for his grand daughter to do arts and crafts while he's baby sitting.

Okay let's try the epoxy, as long as his grand daughter doesn't try to keep opening the desk lid past the hinges it should be fine. If not I'll do some bow ties.

2nd time out in the wild. Its not over heating. Running 160*-170*. Has a 158* thermostat. Now I feel more comfortable spending money on it to make it nice... only need like $6k. Short story, it was a 37hp gas powered saw that I repowered with a 32hp turbo diesel and the upper and lower chassis are from 2 different model saws I mated to each other. Built it myself from all graveyard parts. From initial thought to today has been 14 months. Will fit through a 3-0 door.

Using a D1105-T Kubota turbo diesel. It had a Nissan A15 engine. 4 cylinder forklift engine pretty much.
Was the A15 dead? Have a customer with a forklift...compression ranging from 35psi to about 75....it's a miracle it still starts!

This arrived late yesterday.
I'll fill it with oil, connect the battery, run it 45 minutes and change the oil, then run it a couple hours more and change the oil again & clean the spark arrestor, then change the oil every 100 hours. It'll take the place of one of the HF Predator 3500's. Covers about the same height and foot print as the HF 3500, will run two RV AC's and the microwave simultaneously.:

What is it going in?
My brothers 86 elite motorhome 😂. Came with a cat V8pos. Fixed it. 2300 on the governor, 70 mph, not towing.

Buy a city bus. Pull the motor. Rebuild sleeves etc. Up the turbo to 86x1. Upgrade the fuel system. Better springs. Add a brake. Air to water intercooler. Governor to 3200.
Fun part will be putting it on the chassis Dyno to break it in.🤣

Finishing up converting the laundry room/storage into a stacked washer and dryer and full bath. Going to use a stainless steel kitchen sink so that it will be like a laundry tray with pull out faucet. Looking forward to getting this done. Still have to order up glass doors for all the bathrooms. 👍 Then going to rip out the windows and kitchen sometime this year as well. That is a bout it.:oops::oops::oops:

Lippert Hydraulics on TH's are subject to fail. It'll take out the bed of your pickup and that is a tragedy. Second episode with ours so took it up to the dealer in Pismo for a system flush and new valves.
Yet again.
When it fails you are fucked, dead in the water screwed.

So I devised a way to lift it with 2 harbor Freight 12 ton jacks and cribbing if it show any signs of puke-ing. That'll be a thread in itself.

Back home wifie commenced her 2 day marathon deep house spring cleaning.
No matter how well I clean the house because I'm home and the family works,, when the girls walk thru and sweeten up my work.,,, it looks 100% better.

Every possible nook and cranny, flea spray inside and out, everything laundered if it needs it or not,, old stuff thrown out replaced with new,, dog shampooed, house sparkles.

New design exhaust system on the Dually and a updated reflash seems to have cured all it's ills.

Now, set up the hillside to spray the weeds with Round up.

Do the rams bleed down on landing gear setups? I have hydraulic landing gear on my old race hauler, but it was a custom deal put together by a low rider...way overkill. Most stuff I run into here is the electric landing gear shearing the pin tying the two jacks together.

Bringing a 1981 Vespa P200E back to life for a buddy and his wife. They gave me a basket case 1938 BSA M20 as payment for my labor. I’ll slap it back together and see what’s missing. Most likely sell it as a rolling project.

Curious to see how you lifted the TH. Always been a fear of mine and thought of a couple ways but none seem too safe...

Last weekend.....after we brought the chevelle home, went to my buddies house to try and get his newly aquired 66 Chrysler 300 running - it has been sitting for 27 years under a car port.

383 Mopar.

He had already done some prep work - Changed the oil and filter earlier that week, and I had him pull the plugs a few days before, and pump some marvel mystery oil and a little ATF in the cylinders to let it sit and soak for a few days.

Motor turned over smoothly so we proceeded....

Put the plugs back in, and disconnected the fuel line from the fuel pump inlet - ran a hose to a fuel jug with some fresh fuel.

Disconnected the fuel line from carb, so it can purge what's in the line.

Pulled the coil wire and let it crank for a bit to move some oil around and attempt to suck some fresh fuel into the fuel pump from the jug. Felt like it had low compression on a cylinder by the way it was cranking. But - it got better as it cranked, probably un-stuck a ring or freed up a hydraulic lifter that was collapsed.

Didn't get fuel pumping yet, but put the line back on the carb and put the coil wire back on.
Filled the float bowls with gas using a small funnel, and carb had a working accellorator pump shot - so that's a plus!

Cranked it over and after 5-6 tries got it to stumble and fire by playing with the choke and dripping a little gas in the air horn.

Eventually got it running, but had to sit there doing "Bigbore Injection" (trademark) - A hand metered drip of fuel from a bottle with a well calibrated right hand,

Note - if you try this, have a towel ready to smother a carb fire, and a fire extinguisher handy just in case.
Keep your face well away from the carb!
DONT JAY LENO YOURSELF :p

Eventually, got the car to run for 45 seconds at a time until the float bowls were empty - so the carb was metering fuel, but not getting fuel from the pump. After 3-4 times re-filling the float bowls, finally got the fuel pump to start sucking and pumping fuel. It runs!

Possibly has a blown headgasket, but could just be 27 years of shit in the exhaust and a ton of condensation, not sure yet. Lots of condensation out of the exhaust, no coolant smell but it's pretty gnarly. We will see......

Motor smoothed out and sounded decent, and ran surprisingly smooth considering the thermoquad has been sitting for 27 years!

We're gonna test the cooling system for combustion gasses and do a compression test and leakdown, see if the motor needs to come apart or not. If not - Its getting a new radiator, waterpump, fuel pump, fuel lines, belts, hoses and a carb rebuild. Gonna flush the stock tank and scope it, see how nasty it looks inside.

Fun fact - mid 60's letter series Chryslers have reverse-thread lugnuts.........

but only on one side
driver side if im not mistaken? first hot rod shop i worked at as a over zealus 16 year old, i snapped every lug off on the driver front not knowing they were left hand and no one told me. thought they were just rusted as the car had sat for 15+ years. shop manager was pissed, but the guy i who was my "supervisor" took the heat when he told the manager he should have stopped me when he saw me walk over to it with the floor jack handle.

@Bigbore500r , we call that "redneck fuel injection". I'll usually use brake cleaner, and "pulse" the spray. Done it many times on late models with bad fuel pumps...beats pushing the car around;)

Just picked up another Lincoln. Found this 62 in a warehouse with some other classics. Tried to buy them all but he wouldn’t move on his price, so I left with this one. I have a black 63 already. May sell one or both. Who knows.

This maybe be over kill, and not everyone has access to them, but anytime I have to lift my trailer I use 2 of these. You could do it safely with some cribbing and a bottle jack as well, as long as you stack the wood correctly.

Have some down time at the station, figured I'd spend some time polishing the wheels on the truck and trailer, and some time to scotchbrite trailer fenders.

Worked out well, had to bring the trailer with so I could pick up the buick in havasu after shift, had to put a new fuel pump in it

Do the rams bleed down on landing gear setups? I have hydraulic landing gear on my old race hauler, but it was a custom deal put together by a low rider...way overkill. Most stuff I run into here is the electric landing gear shearing the pin tying the two jacks together.
Their is a hydraulic control valve on the top of one of the front landing gear. It controls both fronts in progression.
If any debris gets in it - it kills it. Dirt, left over, assembly scraps from not flushing the system out before final hookup.

First sign is it'll bleed down slowly but noticeable.
Then after a few strokes it fails entirely. Drops like a bowling ball.
Can drop the trailer on the bed of the pickup as you pull away if you don't notice it's acting up.

The mechanical front jacks are way better.

So for a precaution:
Two 12 ton Harbor freight bottle jacks on 6X8X22 cribbing may be enough to lift the 10 ton trailer. The frame is exposed up front maybe able to pull this off..
When I get it back on the driveway I'll experiment and try and demonstrate the signs that it's failing before a catastrophe hits somebody.

When we were dropping it off at the dealer service for warranty fix, another guy came in, his failed and landed on his tailgate - ruined it and the back of the bed.

TH is 20.000 lbs.
Mine is around 18-19 loaded, if just picking up of the frame near the front, and resting on the tires in the back the 5 ton step jacks work good. Obviously a bottle jack is the cheaper route to go if you don't have step jacks laying around.
